Drawing with Rick Austin
Zoom Only
Instructor: Rick Austin
Time: Fridays, 10:30am-12:00pm
Cost: Members $8 / Nonmembers $10
In this online course, artist Rick Austin will help students explore different drawing methods and introduce various techniques needed to take a preliminary sketch to a finished drawing. This weekly Zoom class is perfect for anyone who wants to discover new techniques, refine their drawing skills, and learn how to create a finished piece of artwork with pencil and paper.
Students will work from the same resource, which will be sent before class. Any drawing supplies and paper you have on hand will work. And don’t forget erasers! Subjects will vary week-to-week but may include various landscapes, seascapes, wildlife, the human form, classic works of art, and more. This class is great for both beginner and advanced students who want to continue to develop their drawing skills and sharpen their artistic vision.
At the start of each class, Rick will give a short demonstration. He will then help students design interesting compositions with a focus on artistic principles, such as rhythm, movement, focal points, balance, form, space, contrast, and more, and guide them through the complete drawing process.
Drawing is an important foundation in the creative journey. Putting a pencil to paper to capture the world around us has inspired artists for centuries. It has and will continue to inspire artists throughout time. If you would like to view Rick Austin’s art, visit his website here.
