Creative Writing with John Chaplick

TUESDAYS 10 AM TO 12:00 PM

LEC’s weekly Creative Writing class is a fun forum where you can share and develop your creative voice. This class is designed to support, inspire, and challenge writers of all experience levels and can help you create a finished piece of fiction, poetry, creative nonfiction, or nonfiction.

Using a classic workshop format, students write to a prompt, share their writingand then discuss their personal writings. Students have the opportunity to read one another’s work and receive and give constructive feedback.

Topics include: character development, setting, voice, conflict, point of view, plot, show not tell, and descriptive language. In addition, members of the class will examine the publishing process and how they can submit their work for possible publication.

Every year the members of the class publish an anthology: Creative Fire: Embers and Ashes available on Amazon.
