Announcements for the week of November 4 – 10
Announcements: Week of November 4th – November 10th
Where were you in 1980?
Did you know that the Life Enrichment Center first opened its doors in 1980? Originally started because of a challenge to help the local community, the LEC was designed to promote the well-being of seniors. Although the activities and offerings of the LEC have evolved over the past 44 years, the heart of the LEC still remains the same.

- Have you ever considered journaling? Whether you’re looking for a gratitude journal, travel journal, morning pages, junk journal, art journal or something else, you should consider joining the Journaling class. Yes, you can buy a pre-printed journal with extensive journaling prompts. The world is full of pre-made journals. Right? But you can make your own journal. One that’s personalized to your personal style and specific needs and goals. One that expresses who you are. In this class you will learn how to make at least two DIY journals of your own that you’ll absolutely love! We’re not journaling or writing. We’re making the cover and interior pages so you can fill it with whatever you want or give it as a gift.Come join us for two classes: Monday, November 18 and 25 from 10am – noon. All supplies are included for each class. Participants are expected to sign up for both classes. Walk-ins are welcome; however, to guarantee your seat, you will need to pay in advance, either in person or online. Club News
- The Photo Club will photograph the unveiling of the fifteen new mermaid statues at Weeki Wachee on Saturday, November 23 at 11:30am. Come to a Photo Club Zoom meeting or contact Dave Beebe to learn more.
- The Book Club is full! We almost have enough interest to start a second book club. If you are interested in being a part of a new book club, please sign up on the Resource table at the LEC, email info@lectampa.org, or call 813-932-0241.
Other LEC news…
- The LEC calendars for October and November are posted on the LEC hallway bulletin board. There is also information from Seniors in Service, the Arts Council, and from Hillsborough County’s Senior Outdoor Active Recreation (SOAR).
- The LEC still needs volunteers for every other Tuesday morning, every other Wednesday afternoon, and every other Friday. Volunteers work 2-hour shifts and are responsible for checking emails, light organizational projects, answering phones, etc. Please call or drop us an email if you are interested in volunteering.
- The Life Enrichment Center was very fortunate during the recent storms. Unfortunately, we know several venues in the area have been forced to postpone or cancel special events, gatherings, meetings, etc., due to the damage they sustained. If you are in a pinch and searching for a backup venue, we may be small, but we might be able to help. Please reach out to us at (813) 932-0241 or email our facilities manager at jennifer@lectampa.org with specific details so we can assist you as quickly as possible with options.
