Spring Cookout at Lowry Park

Everyone’s invited to the LEC Spring Cookout at Lowry Park (Shelter #116) on Wednesday, March 19 from 9am – 2pm.  Join us for games, do some plein air art, enjoy food with friends–it’s a great opportunity to meet new people and enjoy the outdoors.  Sign up to bring sides, desserts, drinks, etc. Email info@lectampa.org or call (813) 932-0241 if you have questions.

Class & Workshop News

• NO AM Open Studio on March 19. Head to the Cookout at Lowry Park instead! (PM Open Studio IS happening at it’s regular time.)

• “I Remember…”: Poetry class meets on Thursdays from 10:30am – 12pm online and in person. The topics for this week are “I remember…” poems and how to revise your poetry. No experience necessary. Register online here, or you can email info@lectampa.org, call (813) 932-0241, or sign up in person.

• RELAX! On Saturday, March 22 from 10am to 12pm, licensed massage therapist Dale Hartman will teach you how to give and receive a massage, with a focus on self-massage. Register online here,  email info@lectampa.org, call (813) 932-0241, or sign up in person.

Club News

• WALKING CLUB: Monday, March 17 at 9:30am  Copeland Park (11001 N. 15th St.)  When you enter Copeland Park, turn right. You’ll see basketball courts on your left and parking spaces. Park there to meet. Carpoolers meet at the LEC at 9 am. Arleen will be leaving the LEC at 9:10am. Our walk begins at 9:30am!  Anyone interested in joining the Monday morning Walking Club outing this week, please email Arleen at grants@lectampa.org for details. Include your cell phone number.

• PHOTO CLUB TIME SHIFT:  The Photo Club will meet online from 2 – 3:30 pm Wednesday, March 19.  Register here or email info@lectampa.org for the Zoom link.

• YARN ARTS CLUB:  The Yarn Arts Club WILL meet on Wednesday, March 12  from 9:30 am – 11:30 am.  Bring a project and join the fun (then go to the Cookout for some food with friends)!

• KEEP READING!: The Book Club 2.0 is reading Someone Like Us by Dinaw Mengestu.  Join them to discuss the book on Monday, March 24 from 10 am – 12pm.

LEC Talent on Display! 

• LEC STUDENTS’ ART SHOW: Our night-time Open Studio students are having an art show at Pinellas Ale Works (PAW). The show is curated by Tim and Jayne Gibbons from Funky as a Monkey and will run from March 14, 2025 to April 25, 2025. LEC artists showing their work are: Campbell Buchanan, Julie Buchanan, Sheila Holbrook, Joella Young, Arleen Mariotti, and Jennifer Perrella. PAW is located at 1962 1st Ave. S. in St. Petersburg. All are welcome!

  PAW Hours of Operation: Mondays-Thursday 3-10 pm; Fridays-Saturdays noon-midnight; Sundays 12-8pm. PAW is always kid and pet friendly and provides rotating Food Truck fare. PAW is Covid-responsible. PAW participates in the St. Petersburg Art Walk every second Saturday of the month to provide greater coverage for artists.
