Deadline: __August 30, 2024
Creative Fire, Embers and Ashes, vol. 25, a literary magazine published by the LEC, is accepting original works of writing in fiction, nonfiction and poetry from LEC members. Submissions received after the deadline will not be considered. If your work is accepted for publication, you will receive one free copy.

Write in the subject line: Anthology
At the top of each manuscript, please put your name, email, and genre (fiction, nonfiction, creative nonfiction, poetry). Include a short bio (see next page).
- Your submission should be original, unpublished work.
- You can submit up to five pieces of writing of any genre, or a combination of genre, but realize that not all may be accepted for publication.
- Your personal information will NOT be shared.
Include your manuscript(s) as an attachment, and submit your work in Word or as a doc file. If you send something in a file format we cannot read or open, we will contact you. We might ask you to edit a submission if it is selected for this edition.
Genre and Guidelines
Do we have to say it? – Keep it clean
Fiction– Short, short stories (Flash Fiction) Length: 1200 words maximum
Short Stories Length: ~2000 words. Longer manuscripts may be considered.
Poetry All forms of Poetry are acceptable. Length: up to 50 lines.
Nonfiction Straight nonfiction Length: ~2,000 words; backup materials and photo references may be requested upon acceptance.
Creative nonfiction Length: ~2,000 words; A memoir of an event in a person’s life that may take a variety of forms, including anecdote, or personal essay.
If you have an accompanying picture or artwork, make sure to submit it as a jpeg file.
Author information: Please include ONE short bio of <100 words. (see sample on next page)
Entries will not be returned, so keep a copy.
