Starting a new painting? Need help with an existing project? Want to paint in a fun, creative environment with fellow artists? Then please join us every Wednesday morning! Bring your own work, and materials to play with.  Students may work at their own pace on individual projects of their choice. Artist and instructor Tim Gibbons will offer one-on-one instruction, critique, inspiration, and support.  

During this weekly class, students will explore building armatures and sculpting with paper clay (or air-dry clay)!

Unlike traditional clays that need to be fired in a kiln, paper/air-dry clays harden and cure at room temperature. Once dry, the pieces can be painted and decorated in a variety of ways.

In this class students will learn: how to construct armatures (the frameworks on which a clay sculpture is molded) using foil, Styrofoam, wire, cardboard, etc.; how to mix and sculpt with paper/air-dry clay; how to apply acrylic paint to finished pieces; and how to create mixed media and/or assemblage pieces.
