Have you always wanted to paint with watercolors but never tried? Or has it been awhile since you last painted with watercolors and you need a refresh on the basics? Beginning Watercolor is the perfect class for you!

Learn the fundamentals of watercolor with watercolorist Kathy Edwards! This class is designed to introduce the materials and the basic techniques for painting with watercolor. It is great for beginners and intermediate painters who want to explore the medium and truly understand how watercolor works.

The class will cover basic color theory, values, design, how to mix colors, brush handling, how to control the water-to-pigment ratio, basic shapes and strokes, and various brush techniques. Students will be able to apply teachings and experiment with exercises for each concept. They will explore the effects they can achieve with different brushes, strokes, and water-to-pigment ratios. Students will explore and practice basic watercolor techniques, such as working wet-on-wet, wet-on-dry (layering), and dry brush.

With each exercise, students will learn more about composition, color theory, form, values, and so on. Students will learn new watercolor skills, explore artistic concepts, share ideas, and gain confidence with watercolor. This is a very fun, hands-on class to a unique medium.
