Announcements for week of September 23 – 29

Announcements: Week of September 23th – 29th

Did you know…

People who play bridge are less depressed, sleep better, and have a lower risk for Alzheimer’s or dementia. Bridge is a social game with four players working in teams of two.  Players use “bids” to communicate the contents of their hand to their partner.  The thirteen rounds of play in one bridge game help with short-term memory.  It also requires patience, communication skills, reasoning, and quick thinking.  Using these skills helps keep brains active and young.  To play Bridge, you just need a deck of cards and three friends.

Learn and practice Bridge on Monday afternoons (1-3pm).  No experience necessary.

Other LEC news…

  • Have you checked the bulletin board in the entrance hallway?  The calendar for the month posted there.  There is also information about Hillsborough County’s Senior Outdoor Active Recreation schedule of hikes, walks, kayak trips, and museum tours.  Check the board for all sorts of interesting opportunities!
  • Do you have a free two-hour block during the week? The LEC still needs volunteers for every other Tuesday morning, Wednesday afternoons, and every other Friday.   Please call or drop us an email if you are interested in volunteering. Responsibilities include checking emails, light organizational projects, answering phones, etc.
