| What is Open Studio?
The LEC’s Open Studio is a creative space that provides adults an opportunity to experiment and make art in a safe environment. Our Open Studio will motivate you to create, try new media, and work with many inspiring and accomplished artists. Instructor Tim Gibbons is available during the entire class time to instruct, suggest, and/or encourage students. All levels of artists are welcome. So, whether you’re brand new to painting and drawing or a seasoned professional, you will find a block of time in Open Studio devoted to helping you produce original art. Open Studio meets on Wednesday mornings from 9-noon and Wednesday evenings from 6-8:30 pm. Choose a time and come create! |
- Call for Manuscripts! LEC’s yearly Anthology Creative Fire, Embers and Ashes 25 is now accepting original works of writing in fiction, nonfiction, and poetry from LEC Members. The submissions deadline is August 30th. Please put “Anthology” in the subject line of your email. If you have any questions give us a call at (813) 932-0241 or email us at [email protected]. We look forward to receiving your entries.
- Do you have a free two-hour block on any afternoon during the week? The LEC needs volunteers! Please call or drop us an email if you are interested in volunteering with us in the afternoons. Responsibilities include checking emails, light organizational projects, answering phones, etc.
- ClareMedica would like to sponsor an Exercise Wellness Class. This would be every other week and encompass physical wellness and nutrition. If you’re looking for a class to help you stay fit and answer any wellness questions, come to this class. To guarantee your seat, you can email us at [email protected] or call us at (813) 932-0241. - The August 5th Crochet class is cancelled. The class will resume at a later date.
- Potluck is August 7th. Owen Richardson from the Lab Theater Project will be giving a brief presentation.
- Book Club’s Luncheon is August 6th at the Granda Hacienda on Dale Mabry. They will be meeting at 1pm on the restaurant patio. Book Club has their monthly meeting on Zoom on August 13th at 12:30 to 2:00. They are reading Table for Two by Amor Towles.
- Beginning August 8th,a hybrid Poetry Class with Mish will begin. You can zoom in or attend at the LEC! Poetry Class will run for 8 weeks on Thursday mornings, 10:30 to noon. Call or email us to sign up. (813) 932-0241 and [email protected].
- We have an Intro to Pastels Workshop on August 17th from 10:00am to 1:00pm with Janice. No experience with pastels needed. This class is for anyone interested in trying out a new medium. Supplies will be provided. If you have soft pastels, you are welcome to bring them.
- Photo Club has their monthly meeting on August 21st 1:30 to 3:00 pm on Zoom. The Photo Challenge this month is “Hardware.” Take a picture of anything you think meets the challenge. You can interpret that how you wish.
- Announcing the solo exhibit of the art of Mish Elaine Murphy, focusing on her whimsical canine creations, MISH’S DOG PORTRAITS ART SHOW. Mish’s opening reception is Saturday, August 10, 6-8 pm. The exhibit runs from Friday, August 9-September 13 at Pinellas Ale Works, PAW ART PULSE GALLERY, 1962 1st Avenue South. For more information, please contact Tim Gibbons at 813.231.2579.
