Dr. Marianne Chen

Tai Chi

Dr. Marianne Chen received her Doctorate of Science from Johns Hopkins University and joined the University of South Florida College of Medicine in 1981. Her research includes an emphasis on digestive diseases and nutrition, including the effects of cruciferous vegetables on colon cancer. Her studies also focused on the effects of Vitamin B deficiencies in seniors.

While at USF, Dr. Chen volunteered her time to teach Tai Chi classes as part of the university’s Learning in Retirement program for seniors. Afterwards, she volunteered at the Life Enrichment Center in 1998 and continues to teach Tai Chi classes presently.

She has been practicing this ancient martial art for more than 28 years, which has numerous health benefits, including bone density, better balance, and reduced stress.
