2nd Grade Scholars at Legacy Preparatory Academy Collaborate with Life Enrichment Center Artists on Intergenerational Art Project

The Life Enrichment Center and Legacy Preparatory Academy are working together to create a 26-panel intergenerational art project with a focus on character, education, and art. On May 3, 2017, fifteen 2nd grade Legacy Prep scholars arrived at the Life Enrichment Center and kicked off the afternoon with a wonderful song and dance performance that included “God Bless America”, “Do Re Me”, “Swing Low, Sweet Chariot”, “Dona Nobis Pacem”, and “Lift Every Voice and Sing”.

Following the performance the young artists were paired up with Life Enrichment Center artists and painted 8 of the 26 panels.

Each panel is 3’x3′ in size and spells out “Legacy Preparatory Academy”. The panels also include symbols representing education, service, growth, determination, and success which form a pictograph of the Legacy Prep Scholar Pledge. When displayed together the panels will create a unified mural, however, each panel has a unique design and message of its own. When the 26 panels are complete, they will be on display outside of Legacy Preparatory Academy.

The end result is stunning! We can’t wait to see what the 3rd and 5th graders will do on May 10th and 17th!

Legacy Preparatory Academy serves grades K-8 and is a tuition-free public charter school. Their mission is to provide a unified learning environment where scholars are taught how to be lifelong learners, parents are engaged, and educators go that extra step to ensure that education matters. Project sponsors include: TECO (in memory of Heywood Turner, former Life Enrichment Center Board Member and friend) and Imaging Experts, whose donation will assist in setting up a designated art room with art supplies at Legacy Prep following the project.
